Free Microsoft Utility to Clean Up and Speed Up Your PC

October 26, 2022

There are many utilities out there to “clean up” a Windows registry and perform other functions to improve PC performance. One of the popular and well-known utilities is CCleaner. Lifehacker has a post announcing a similar utility that comes from Microsoft. The utility is called PC Manager and is currently in beta. Apparently, it works pretty well. The utility helps you manage running processes and apps loaded at startup. “The most useful option is Boost, which immediately frees up RAM and clears temporary files from your computer.” The utility download page is in Mandarin, but the installation and application automatically default to English.

One of the biggest benefits of PC Manager is assembling a large collection of Windows utilities in one place. Like CCleaner, PC Manager clears out a bunch of unnecessary artifacts. The Storage Manager option “lets you find and remove large files or junk files, linking to Windows’ built-in uninstaller and Storage Sense features…” While the utility isn’t a perfect solution, it is free and comes from Microsoft.
