Killer Camera for Galaxy S11

September 26, 2019

Smartphone cameras are getting better and better. The latest generation of the iPhone (11 Pro & 11 Pro Max) sports triple 12MP Ultra Wide, Wide and Telephoto cameras. Optical zoom capability is 2X. The Galaxy S10 also has three cameras. The cameras are 12MP Telephoto and Wide cameras as well as a 16MP Ultra Wide camera. In comparison, digital SLR cameras typically have 24MP resolution. One of the benefits of higher megapixel resolution is the ability to enlarge photos without getting grainy. 12MP is still a pretty good resolution for a smartphone camera.

If the rumors are true, the Galaxy S11 will set a new bar for smartphone cameras. BGR reported that the Galaxy S11 will be Samsung's first phone to feature 5X optical zoom. Other cameras only have 2X optical zoom. As if 5X optical zoom wasn't enough, the S11 is also supposed to be equipped with a 108-megapixel wide-angle camera. BGR is less confident that we'll really see a 108MP camera, but Samsung did confirm in August that it is developing a 108-megapixel image sensor.
