Microsoft Edges Out Firefox

April 6, 2020

Don't blame me for a bad pun. Bleeping Computer cited a report by NetMarketShare showing that Microsoft Edge is now the second most used browser. Firefox has been dropping in popularity over the past year. Last year, Firefox's market share was 9.27% and it is now 7.19%. During the same period, Microsoft Edge moved from 5.2% to 7.59%. All of the other competing browser are way behind the 68.5% market share of Google's Chrome browser. Commentators believe that Edge is gaining in popularity because it is now Chromium-based, which makes it compatible with Chrome and able to use all of the extensions from the Chrome store.
