New Vulnerability for Chromium-based Browsers

March 29, 2022

Another day…another update. According to a Review Geek post, Microsoft and Google have released emergency updates to patch a critical browser vulnerability. Google is a little mum with the vulnerability details, presumably to limit any helpful information attackers could use to their advantage. We do know it is vulnerability dealing with remote code execution within the V8 Javascript engine. You should update Chromium-based browsers to include Chrome, Edge, Brave and Opera.

For Chrome, go to Help -> About Google Chrome to see if you are running version 99.0.4844.84. In Edge, go to Help and feedback -> About Microsoft Edge to verify you are running version 99.0.1150.55. For Brave, go to About Brave to see if you are at Chromium: 99.0.4844.84.  For Opera, you click on the big red O in the upper left corner, then Update and Recovery to verify you are at version 85.0.4341.18.
