Own an Apple Device? Patch Now!

Apple released new operating system versions (iOS 14.7.1, iPadOS 14.7.1, and macOS Big Sur 11.5.1) which include a fix for a zero-day exploit. BGR posted information about the update. The vulnerability gave an application to “execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges.” In other words, gaining access to the kernel means you own the device. For mobile devices, apply the update by navigating to Settings -> General -> Software Update. For Mac users, go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Software Update.

You are vulnerable if you own one of these Apple devices:

  • iPhone 6s and later
  • iPad Pro (all models)
  • iPad Air 2 and later
  • iPad 5th generation and later
  • iPad mini 4 and later
  • iPod touch (7th generation)
  • any Mac running macOS Big Sur
