Quickly Insert a Cent Symbol

It’s really simple to insert a dollar sign in your document because there’s a key specifically defined with the symbol. Entering a cent symbol is more difficult. You could always bring up the character map app, select the desired font, find the cent symbol and copy it to the clipboard. That’s a lot of work. There are some easier ways to quickly insert a cent symbol using a keyboard shortcut and How-To Geek has a post with the instructions.

One way is to hold down the <Alt> key and hit 0162 on the numeric keyboard. Don’t use the number keys across the top of the keyboard as it won’t work. You must use the numeric keypad to enter the numbers. A faster way is to hold down the <Ctrl> key and hit the / and C keys. Mac users would use the Option+4 keyboard shortcut to insert a cent symbol.
