Simple Steps to Back Up Your Gmail Email

July 27, 2021

Gmail is the most used email service in the world. Many of us have a Gmail address even if we primarily communicate via a business email address. The last thing you want is to contract a virus or inadvertently delete your account and have all your email vanish into the ether. The obvious solution is to backup your messages. TechViral has a tutorial with simple steps to backup your Gmail email.

The first step is to logon to Google and go to the My Account page. Go to the Data and personalization section from the left hand menu. Scroll down to the Download, delete, or make a plan for your data section and select Download your data. This is take you to a new page for downloading your data. Click on the Deselect all to clear all the choices. Scroll down and select the Mail option (options are listed alphabetically). Click on the Next step button at the bottom of the screen. Be sure to set your File type & size prior to clicking the Create export button. You will receive a link to download your information. You can store your downloaded data anywhere you like.
