Free Decryption Tool Available for GandCrab Ransomware

March 1, 2018

One of the newest forms of ransomware is called GandCrab. GandCrab has some pretty interesting features never before seen in ransomware. It is the first ransomware to accept DASH virtual currency for payment. It also is the first to utilize the NameCoin powered .BIT domains. Bleeping Computer has a very good explanation of how GandCrab operates. At the end of the day, GandCrab works like other ransomware and encrypts your files holding you hostage until you pay the ransom. Not to worry. A free decryption tool has been released by the No More Ransom project. If you are unlucky enough to have GandCrab land on your machine, don't pay the ransom and get the free decryption tool.
