Top Ten States Most Likely to Contract Malware

Where do you live? Some states are more likely than others to become infected with malware. TechRepublic has a post identifying the top 10 states that were most likely to be infected with malware in 2017. Research completed by Enigma Software identified the 10 most malware-infected states along with their infection rates. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest so it really bothered me that Washington State is nearly twice as likely to be infected with malware as other states. Bummer that I ended up in the number three state.

  1. Washington: 187%
  2. New Hampshire: 172%
  3. Virginia: 87%
  4. New Jersey: 66%
  5. Oregon: 37%
  6. Montana: 36%
  7. New York: 29%
  8. Maine: 26%
  9. Wyoming: 25%
  10. Arizona: 23%

Practicing smarter computing is certainly a better alternative to picking up your family and moving to another state.
