Deleted Saved Wi-Fi Networks in Windows 10

November 20, 2017

I have several different models of the Wi-Fi Pineapple from Hak5. For those that don't know, the Pineapple impersonates Wi-Fi networks and "captures" wireless requests from devices. Basically, for WiFi networks you remember, the device beacons and says "hotel wireless are you there?" The Pineapple just answers "yes' and connects to your device. Your traffic is then routed through the Pineapple. One recommendation to prevent this security vulnerability is to not remember wireless networks. That's really a difficult challenge for iOS devices, but what about Windows 10?

How-To Geek has a post that gives you instructions to quickly forget wireless networks in Windows 10. You won't have to dig through the settings app or Control Panel if you are running the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. Open the Wi-Fi popup from the notification area and select "Forget." This only works for networks that are within range, otherwise you'll need to use the Setting app. Go to Settings, Network & Internet. Select Wi-Fi and then click on "Manage known networks."
