Free Phone Calls with Amazon Echo

October 2, 2017

We just got done giving a super fun webinar with our bud Ivan Hemmans about digital assistants' security and what you can do with them. We focused on Alexa and the Echo line of products. Right after we gave the webinar, Amazon announced new products for the Echo line. Now we've learned that Amazon Echo devices can call landline and mobile phone numbers for free. Calls are only free to the United States, Canada and Mexico. If you want to receive phone calls, you'll need to purchase a new $35 Connect box that Amazon announced last week. You'll need to fire up your Alexa app to configure the calling options. You can tell Echo to call anyone in your contacts or just dictate the number to dial.
