IOS Malware Growing Faster than Android
July 20, 2017
Mobile security company Skycure released results of its Mobile Threat Intelligence report that shows a dramatic growth of malware attacking Apple mobile devices. Skycure scanned enterprise iOS devices and found that 0.65% had "high-severity" malicious apps running on them in the first quarter, up from 0.21% in the third quarter last year. Android was "flat" during the same period. While the percentages are low, it is an indicator that things are going in the wrong direction for iOS. Skycure also released data concerning the number of vulnerabilities in iOS and Android.

Skycure is projecting a fourfold increase in iOS vulnerabilities over last year while Android is fairly flat. According to Skycure's vice president of marketing, "iOS is used on one of the more popular devices and that is where hackers are focusing and that is where the money is. A more affluent community tends to use the iPhone." That means the bad guys are focusing more on iPhones and iPads these days.
