Samsung Delays Bixby Release Again

July 6, 2017

Bixby is Samsung's version of a digital voice assistant. However, Bixby is a different beast than Siri, Google Assistant, Alexa, Cortana and the like. Bixby is intended to use voice commands to control and accomplish activities on your Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Samsung intended to deliver Bixby along with the release of the Galaxy S8 and S8+, but there are difficulties dealing with the English language. Samsung has delayed the English speaking Bixby yet again. According to a statement from a Samsung representative, "Developing Bixby in other languages is taking more time than we expected mainly because of the lack of the accumulation of big data."

My personal experience with the Bixby beta has been pretty good, but apparently Samsung says there has been some 'unsatisfactory' results so far. Let's hope Samsung isn't trying to get Bixby to accept commands using language from the Urban Dictionary.
