Netgear Provides Updated Firmware

December 19, 2016

Last week I wrote about a severe vulnerability in some models of Netgear routers. The vulnerability is so severe that your first choice is to shut it down and replace it with a different device. You can now safely use that electronic brick if you update the firmware just released by Netgear. Fully tested and released firmware is available for Netgear model R6400, R7000 and R8000 routers. Beta firmware is available for the following models.

  • R6250
  • R6700
  • R6900
  • R7100LG
  • R7300DST
  • R7900
  • D6220
  • D6400

Netgear also confirmed that the model R700 is not vulnerable. The lesson here is to update ALL of your technology and not just the operating system on your computer.
