LastPass is Now Free for All Devices

November 3, 2016

There are no more excuses for not using a password manager. One of the most popular password managers is now free and synchronizes across all your devices. Previously, you had to pay $12 a year for the premium version of LastPass in order to have your data accessible on mobile devices. No more. LastPass is now free for all your devices. If you are already a premium LastPass users, should you continue to pay $12 for something that is now free? My guess is that most folks paid the money to synchronize their password database across multiple devices and will stop paying for that feature.

There are still benefits for premium subscribers if they continue to pay the $12. According to TechCrunch, "LastPass Premium users will still pay a subscription to access family password sharing, two-factor authentication methods like YubiKey and Sesame, encrypted file storage, fingerprint identification on desktop, priority customer support and an ad-free password vault. Free services will now include two-factor authentication, password generation and sync, and access from unlimited devices."
