Is it Time to Buy a Solid State Drive?
July 25, 2016
The short answer is yes. Solid State Drives (SSD) have come down in price to the point where you need to invest in the technology for all drives except the very large capacity models. CNET has identified the top five solid state drives to consider for replacement of your old mechanical spindle and platter models. You can get these SSD wonders for anywhere from $40 for 120Gb to around $300 for 1TB drives. The drives that CNET recommends include:
- Transcend SSD370S
- Crucial MX200
- Samsung SSD 850 Evo (my personal favorite)
- Samsung SSD 850 Pro
- SanDisk Extreme Pro
No matter what SSD you select, you're sure to enjoy a big boost in performance for a very reasonable price.
