Huge USB Drive Doesn’t Need a Power Brick
March 31, 2016
Hard drive capacities keep getting bigger and bigger. Many of us use external USB hard drives to store massive collections of photos or backup our office and home computers. Those external USB drives typically come with a power connector since there isn't enough "juice" available from the USB port alone. Some really smart engineers have solved that problem. Seagate has announced its Innov8 drive that's a whopping 8 TB in size and doesn't need to be plugged into an electrical outlet. The drive is expected to be available sometime in April for a cost around $350. That's a pretty good price for 8 TBs that only needs a USB port.
