Fastcase Acquires Loislaw

It was big news in the legal technology sector recently when our friend and colleague, Bob Ambrogi, revealed that Fastcase acquired Loislaw for an undisclosed amount. Bob states that the major differentiator between lower cost research providers and the “big boys” of legal research is the availability of treatises, which is the basis of Loislaw. Fastcase will index and include the treatises in the Fastcase site, but will not allow access to non-Loislaw subscribers. It is unclear if Fastcase will be able to offer the treatises at a future time to regular Fastcase subscribers, but the betting money is yes.
