Top Rated BitDefender Isn’t So Smart

August 4, 2015

Recently, I wrote about a post where BitDefender was listed as one of the top available AV products. It takes more than having a one-hit wonder to survive in today’s security landscape. For a security company, BitDefender isn’t so secure. I wouldn’t put my faith in a security company that fails to encrypt their customer’s data. Apparently, BitDefender was hacked by someone known as DetoxRansome who was able to access the management dashboard for its small and medium-sized business clients. The worst part about the compromise is that the passwords were not encrypted. A security company storing critical data in unencrypted form? Apparently, nobody attended their security 101 class.
