Permanent Backdoor Access to Macs is Revealed
June 8, 2015
There are a lot of computer users that believe they are immune to viruses, Trojans or other compromises just because they use an Apple device. The reality is that you need to protect your Mac just like you need to protect your Windows or Linux machine. Ars technica has reported that most Macs older than a year are vulnerable to an exploit that creates a permanent backdoor to the system. The exploit works by attacking the BIOS protections immediately after a Mac restarts from sleep mode. There really isn’t much you can do to protect you from the exploit other than not allowing sleep mode. Not a very elegant solution, but it’s all you have since Apple is notoriously slow to distribute updates.
