Annual List of Top 25 Worst Passwords

January 21, 2015

SplashData just released their list of the worst passwords of 2014 and it isn’t pretty. Folks are still using the age old “123456” and “password.” There are some new ones making an appearance such as “batman” and “superman.” I guess spiderman gets no respect. The chart is an excellent example of what not to use as a password. The frightening part of the release is that the listed 25 passwords represent 2.2 percent of exposed passwords. Not much uniqueness there. This gives me another opportunity to remind people that they should be using a password manager to maintain their strong, unique passwords. Just don’t use “123456” to secure the password vault.
