Cloud Security Concerns Executives

January 20, 2015

SC Magazine summarized the “Cloud Adoption, Practices and Priorities Survey Report,” which was released by the Cloud Security Alliance. The report stated that 61 percent of respondents said that the security of data residing in the cloud is an executive or board-level concern. Well, it’s about time. Many decision makers at companies have had their heads in the sand and have ignored the risks of having company data stored in the cloud. This is especially true if you don’t know your data is in the cloud. The employees are probably already using cloud services without having the IT staff involved at all. The report also points out that only half of the respondents have a policy defining acceptable cloud usage. Worse yet, only 16 percent of those with policies actually enforce them. Pretty scary stuff.
