No More Support for Windows 8.1

June 16, 2014

It may sound harsh, but Microsoft will no longer provide support for Windows 8.1. You are now required to have installed Update 1 if you want to get any future support for the 8.1 version of Windows. You can continue to get updates if you are still running Windows 8 for some reason. Didn’t get the Update 1 installed before the cutoff date? According to Paul Thurrott’s Supersite for Windows, you’ll have to manually install Update 1 through Windows Update if you are an individual user. Corporate users that use Microsoft’s deployment tools can push out the Update 1 through August 12th.
