Digital Evidence Coming to Forefront in Disappearance of 5 year old
February 18, 2020
A disappearance that led to an Amber Alert in the Jacksonville Florida area has unfortunately progressed to an investigation into the death of 5 year old Taylor Williams. The young girl’s mother, Brianna Williams, has become a person of interest in the case after reportedly attempting suicide by overdose after her daughter’s body was located in rural Alabama.
Discovery material filed in the matter has provided some insight in the ongoing investigation. There appears to be a wide variety of digital evidence including cellphone records and web browser search history. Prosecutors have also issued subpoenas for data from cloud sources including a Google account, Apple’s iCloud and even Match.com.
With all of these different sources of information, the government’s forensic investigators may be able to put together a detailed record of activity and potentially even GPS coordinates for the devices involved. Williams is currently charged with two counts of child neglect and providing false information to law enforcement. She has pled not guilty to all counts.
