Florida Man Arrested and Charged: Involved in Possession of Child Pornography

May 24, 2022

The Tampa Bay Newspapers Staff recently published an article about a man arrested for possession of child pornography.

On May 17, 2022, detectives from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department in Florida received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) about child exploitation material being uploaded on social media.

After the detectives received the information from NCMEC, they started an investigation into Steven Basil Kistulentz. They obtained a search warrant for Kistulentz’s residence and seized electronic devices. The Digital Forensics Unit later found 10 photos of child pornography on his cell phone, as well as evidence of the sending and receiving of files involving child pornography on a messenger application called Kik.

In an interview between Kistulentz and the detectives, Kistulentz admitted to owning the Kik account.

55-year-old Steven Basil Kistulentz, was arrested and charged with two counts of intentional viewing of child pornography and 10 charges of possession of child pornography. The bail was set at $220,000.

Kistulentz is currently employed at Saint Leo University as the director of the graduate program in creative writing and as an associate professor of English, but I imagine that will change very soon.
