I Flew the United Dreamliner: Saw A Camera on the Back of the Seat in Front of Me

You may recall that I posted earlier this year about cameras being installed on the back of Singapore Airlines seats.

It turns out many airlines, including the big-three in the U.S. — American Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines – all had cameras built into the personal entertainment screens on certain planes. The airlines said the cameras aren't being used, but after pushback from concerned travelers, the airlines supposedly were going to cover the in-flight seat cameras.

Not so fast. I flew on a United Airlines Dreamliner last week and the camera was not covered. Fortunately, I had my personal MacGyver (my husband) with me and John ALWAYS has both duct tape and electrical tape with him (with which he has performed many miracles).

Do I trust United or any other airline to keep the cameras from invading my privacy? Nope, no more than I trust that the camera built into my laptop can't be turned on by someone else.

So here are the photos – one shows the camera and one shows the camera covered by electrical tape. Well done my MacGyver!
