Time to Register for ABA TECHSHOW 2020!

December 12, 2019

Yesterday, I read Jim Calloway's blog post encouraging his readers to go to ABA TECHSHOW 2020 and realized I should be writing a similar post. Jim, John and I have been lecturing at ABA TECHSHOW for two decades now (where has the time gone?) and we've all chaired or co-chaired the conference, so I guess we can be forgiven for having such loyalty to it.

Once again, ABA TECHSHOW is in good hands, with Heidi Alexander and Catherine Sanders-Reach as its very competent co-chairs – and they are backed by a terrific planning board.

There are so many things to learn at ABA TECHSHOW and so many people to meet. Though I revel in seeing my longtime friends, I make new friends every year. Last year, I made friends with Argentinian lawyer Andres Piesciorovsky – we not only share a love of legal tech, but we both are energized about artificial intelligence. We have been in touch since the 2019 conference ended, exchanging ideas, becoming friends on Facebook and learning about each other's family. That's one small story, but it has been replicated many times over the years. Good things happen when like-minded people start talking legal tech!

Since we are always being asked what we are speaking on this year – the first two sessions below are mine and the second two are John's. And, of course, we have marvelous co-presenters all around.

Red Pill vs. Blue Pill: How Deepfakes are Defining Digital Reality

The Intersection of Ethics and Well-Being

Bad Actors: The Year in Breaches

Of PEN Tests and Policies: Firm Security Audits

Each year, the Expo Hall gets bigger and bigger, full of vendors who are happy to speak with you at great length. In many cases, you can test drive products you are interested in – and there's always coffee and comfortable seating somewhere!

The speakers are universally friendly and happy to chat with you. There are lots of social activities, many involving food and libations – and lots of ways to make new friends. If you have any questions, reach out to me via email – happy to answer them. As I joke to John, we have grown old in the service of ABA TECHSHOW!

ABA TECHSHOW 2020 will take place February 26-29 in Chicago. The home page, which includes the registration link, can be found here. Early bird discounted registration is available until January 13th, so don't wait too long. And if you do come, make sure you say hello to us!
