Zoom’s Thanksgiving Gift: No Time Limits on Meetings for Everyone

November 17, 2020

Sometimes, it's nice to see a big company do something, in the spirit of the season, to help families spend time together. USA Today reported on November 16 that Zoom is lifting its 40-minute limit for all meetings globally from midnight ET on Nov. 26 through 6 a.m. ET on Nov. 27.

On Thanksgiving, Zoom is free to all, "so your family gatherings don't get cut short," the company said in a tweet.

Zoom, by far the most popular video conference app (currently No. 12 on Apple and No. 7 on Google Play) offers free service to users, but normally only for up to 40 minutes, unless you pay a minimum of $15 monthly.

That's a gracious gesture Zoom, especially for those whose financial situation means that they can't afford the paid version of Zoom. Well done.
