A Firefox Version That Can’t Be Patched

April 8, 2015

You can’t expect all software to be bug free all the time. That’s why there are specific protocols that developers follow as part of the application life cycle. Pretty much every vendor has released software that had some sort of problem with a function that required subsequent patching. Recently, Mozilla had its worst nightmare. It released a version of Firefox that could not be patched. Mozilla released Firefox version 37 with an opportunistic encryption feature. The feature was supposed to improve security, but actually broke SSL certificate validation.

A patch to fix the problem wasn’t possible so it just pulled the feature. That means that you need to update your version of Firefox to version 37.0.1. That will leave you with the latest secure version. It’s a critical update so download it now.
