Alphabet Passes Apple as Most Valuable Company

February 2, 2016

Ars Technica reports that Alphabet (previously known as Google) has surpassed Apple as the most valuable company. Alphabet's market cap is over $550 billion compared to Apple at over $538 billion. Not to worry, last year Apple hit a market cap of approximately $774 billion in February. That's not to say Apple will regain the top position. There is tremendous pressure to compete with Apple at all levels. Even a BlackBerry exec said that the future is really Android. Time will tell, but I think Apple is in for a rougher road ahead.
