Apple Getting Rich Off Scammers

June 13, 2017

Apple makes a crapload of money by sucking away about one third of profits from app developers. The more money the developer makes, the more money Apple makes. What a great business model. Make money for doing nothing. The bad news is there are some app developers that are scamming users and making a bunch of money each month. One app in particular, is collecting around $80K a month by tricking users into signing up for a $99.99 a week (yes per week) subscription using the non-recommended Touch ID. The app is promoted through Apple's app store and requests permission to access your contacts. It then tells you that your iOS device is at risk. Beware of apps that want access to data that it really doesn't need.
