Apple Suffocates Important News with Watch Announcement
March 10, 2015
Apparently Apple would rather have you spend obscene amounts of money on an insanely overpriced watch than bring focus to updates that can actually improve your security posture. That’s exactly what happened yesterday. Apple was busy sneaking out security updates for iOS devices and OS X computers while all the hype and glitz was concentrating on the Apple Watch. Forget the watch and install the updates.
The biggest fix is a patch to fix the FREAK vulnerability, where your secure HTTPS connections could be compromised. There’s also a fix for a man-in-the-middle attack, where the connection between Apple’s iCloud and a Mac running Yosemite (10.10) or iOS 8 devices could be intercepted. Anyone running OS X Mountain Lion or later and iPhone 4S, iPad2 and iPod touch 5 or later should patch their systems.
