Bug Give Hackers Access to Wi-Fi Chip in iOS Devices
July 24, 2017
If you are using an iPhone 5 or later, iPad 4th generation or later and iPod touch 6th generation, you are at risk. The issue is the Wi-Fi chip manufactured by Broadcom. If Wi-Fi is turned on, the bad guys can take over the chip. They can them move from the Wi-Fi chip and take over the main chip, thereby having control over the entire device. Apple has released a fix so make sure you have updated to iOS 10.3.3 right away. Android devices with a Broadcom chip are also at risk. Google patched the problem on July 5th, but updates from wireless carriers may take a bit longer.
