Dark Web Markets No Longer Available On Reddit

March 22, 2018

Reddit, a discussion and news aggregation site, has just banned the site's largest community dedicated to discussions related to Dark Web marketplaces. The change to the content policy forbids transactions for certain goods and services. Dark Web marketplaces are sites dedicated to selling illegal products varying from weapons, drugs, malware, data breaches, DDoS services, fraud services, and more. The list of forbidden goods and services include:

  • Firearms, ammunition, or explosives;
  • Drugs, including alcohol and tobacco, or any controlled substances (except advertisements placed in accordance with our advertising policy);
  • Paid services involving physical sexual contact;
  • Stolen goods;
  • Personal information;
  • Falsified official documents or currency

If you have ever navigated the Dark Web, you have probably visited Reddit to get a start. Unfortunately, many of the conversations would morph into discussions about transactions, scammers and product reviews. Many users would also show his or her availability for filling an order for various products —usually drugs. "The subreddit was also the first place where users would go to complain about markets shutting down or pulling exit scams, with some users hilariously revealing crucial details about their real-life personas."

If you are looking for a place to discover illegal goods and services, you'll have to find another source.
