Ding Dong the Witch is Dead and So is Flash

August 31, 2015

Another nail in the coffin of Flash. Google has announced that non-essential Flash code will be blocked in the Chrome browser starting on September 1, 2015. Flash videos on YouTube will still be allowed to play, but I bet the days are numbered. Flash has long been known to be a security risk and is constantly being attacked. The blocking primarily impacts advertisers, which utilize Flash quite a bit. Google has already taken the first step at killing Flash by making HTML5 the primary technology for delivering video content. Amazon also announced it will stop accepting Flash ads entirely on September 1st.
