Exchange 2019 Available But You Can’t Deploy It

October 24, 2018

One way to motivate an animal is to hang food just out of reach. I don’t know if Microsoft had that intention, but that’s effectively what it is doing with the release of Exchange 2019. The product is available, but you can’t install it. On October 22, 2018, Microsoft released four Office-related server products – Project Sever 2019, Skype for Business Server 2019, SharePoint Sever 2019 and Exchange 2019. The problem is that Exchange 2019 requires Windows Server 2019, which was pulled because of a bug that deletes user files in several default folders. The other three released products can be installed on Windows Server 2016 as well as Windows Server 2019. Unfortunately, you’ll have wait for Windows Server 2019 to be available again before you can even test an Exchange 2019 installation.
