Five “Totally Awesome” Windows 10 Features

We are getting closer and closer to a Windows 10 release. We learn more and more about the Windows 10 features with each new build. You should already know that the Start Menu will return to Windows 10. Who says that the squeaky wheel doesn’t get greased? I’m sure that thousands of users complaining about the lack of the Start Menu finally got Microsoft’s attention. But the return of the Start Menu isn’t the only thing that will make you happy about Windows 10.

A BGR post mentions five features that you will absolutely love. First, the operating system will take up less room on your hard disk. Specifically, the recovery image (4GB to 12GB) will no longer be required to reload Windows to its factory settings. This means no more “system restore” partition on the hard disk. Second, you will be able to authenticate to Windows using biometrics such as “face, voice, iris and fingerprint.” No more passwords. Third, Cortana will work across desktops, laptops and phones. Fourth, updates will install faster. Rumors are that Windows 10 will use P2P technology to install updates from multiple sources simultaneously. Not only will you be able to download updates from Microsoft, but from PCs on your network and PCs on the Internet.

Finally, my favorite. Windows 10 will no longer have Internet Explorer. There will be a completely new browser called Project Spartan. Perhaps all those folks that ditched IE in favor of Chrome or Firefox will have a reason to return to a Microsoft browser. Spartan lets you mark up web pages and share those annotations with others. I for one am looking forward to a browser that doesn’t constantly blow up and can actually render a web page, two reasons I stopped using IE in the first place.
