How to Automatically Shut Down Your PC

October 17, 2016

I'm a big fan of automatically shutting down your computer every night. That means Windows may not have the opportunity to automatically install updates. Why not schedule the updates and then schedule a computer shutdown following that? PCWorld has some suggested methods to schedule a PC shutdown. You can use a product like RTG Ninja Shutdown. You can schedule a restart, shutdown or logoff. Another option is to use PCWinTech's Simple Shutdown Timer, which has even more options. You can decide whether you want the PC to log off your account, reboot, shutdown, hibernate, or sleep. The two software suggestions are simple to configure by just filling out form fields or checking radio buttons and boxes. Of course, if you are an old school techie, the built-in Windows Task Scheduler is always an option.
