How to Free Up Space on Your Android Device

September 14, 2015

The other day, I went to update an application on my Android phone and got a message that there wasn’t enough storage space available. Imagine my surprise as I move as many applications as possible to the SD card in order to keep system memory as free as possible. What I did was go to Settings and selected Storage to see what was consuming all the memory. I noticed that there was over 5 GB being used for cached data. Click on the Cached data icon and you’ll get a choice to clear it. I could then apply the application update. If you get an out of storage memory error, don’t panic. Just clear the cached data and you’re back in business.
