Increase Windows Notification Time

September 7, 2016

Have you ever been totally engrossed in an activity on your computer and missed reading the notification window? You then wonder what just happened and should you be concerned? Windows 10 has really improved the notification system and what you can do with those notifications. By default, they remain on the display above the Action Center for five seconds. You can change that time, but it is not located in the Personalized Settings as you would expect.

  1. Open Windows Settings > Ease of Access > Other Options
  2. Select length of time to keep notifications on screen

You have six choices for the amount of time (5 second, 7 seconds, 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes) the notifications remain on screen. Leaving the notifications up too long could be distracting and impact your productivity. I would start with the 7 second delay first.
