Microsoft Edge & Chrome Battle for the Best PDF Reader

September 12, 2017

Microsoft believes that its Edge browser will beat out Chrome as the best PDF reader with the Fall Creators Update. PCWorld reviewed Edge's new capabilities within Build 16251 of the Windows Insider program. With the updated Edge browser, you will be able to fill fields, re-orient PDFs, add sticky notes, and adjust the PDF layout—even mark them up with digital ink, and sign PDF documents. Frankly, I'm not a big fan of dealing with PDF files in a browser. I would rather use the free Adobe Reader to deal with PDF files for daily work. Adobe Acrobat is pretty expensive if you need editing capabilities and more control over the PDF document. Give Nuance's Power PDF Advanced a try. At $149.99, it's a much cheaper alternative to Adobe Acrobat.
