Microsoft Surface Dropped from Recommended List

August 14, 2017

It wasn't a good week for Microsoft when Consumer Reports dropped its "recommended" designation for the Surface product line. In a survey of 90,000 Surface owners, Consumers Report found that about 25 percent had issues within the first two years of ownership. Microsoft has a different take on the results. Windows guru Paul Thurrott got his hands on an internal Microsoft memo that indicates Microsoft is ready to tackle Consumer Reports head on. We know there were issues with the early Surface line and particularly with the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4. Microsoft believes that quality has improved with each version of the Surface and suggests that the survey was heavily weighted with angry Surface Book and Pro 4 users.

Despite the survey results, our experience with the Surface Pro has been quite good and we haven't had a problem with any of the units we use or support. Let the battle begin.
