Office 2016 Preinstalled on Mobile Windows 10 Devices

January 27, 2015

Some people call preinstalled software bloatware. Typically, we see bloatware installed on mobile devices by the cellular carriers and you can’t remove it. It occupies precious memory capacity of your smartphone or other mobile device, reducing usable storage capacity. However, not all preinstalled software may be bad for the end user. BGR reports that Microsoft will preinstall Office on Windows 10 phones and tablets for no charge.

The report states that Office 2016 will be released in the second half of this year. It will be preinstalled on Windows 10 phones and tablets with less than eight inch screens for free. It is expected that Office 2016 will be similar to the current Office offering for the iPads and Android tablets. We don’t know if the latest version of preinstalled Office will require an Office 365 subscription or not. Either way, running Office on a mobile device is certainly poised to increase productivity for all of us.
