Order Confirmations Bring More “Gifts”

December 4, 2014

Any major news event or holiday is another opportunity for the bad guys to infect your computer. The latest attack comes in the form of order confirmation messages. Users are receiving e-mail order confirmations appearing to come from sellers such as Home Depot, Walmart, Target and Costco. Order confirmations are not unusual. What is unusual is the request for you to click on a link to confirm your order, which is what the bad guys want you to do. I’m sure there are a lot of people that will click on anything, even if they didn’t place an order. Those same people probably fill out a form about a bank account that they don’t have. Be very careful about the websites you visit and links you click on, especially during this holiday season.
