Speech to Text in Windows 10

February 7, 2018

Some reports say that we only use around ten percent of the capabilities of our computers. There are core functions (e.g. copy, paste, delete, insert, etc.) that everyone uses, but there are other features many of us don't even know exist. One of those is the speech capabilities of Windows 10. You don't need to install special software such as Dragon as Techviral has the simple steps to get you started.

  1. Start the Windows Speech Recognition module by pressing the Windows key +
    H.
  2. You start listening mode by selecting the microphone.
  3. Select the help function to learn the various commands that are available to control your computer.
  4. Open an application that accepts text and start dictating.

Specialized software such as Dragon Naturally Speaking has a lot more refined features, but try out the included features of Windows 10. It may be good enough without you spending any money.
