The “Do Over” Method for Apple

June 9, 2014

If you are one of the crazy people that love to bleed and suffer with new technology, there is a way to get your iOS device back to version 7 if the iOS 8 beta blows up on you. Apple’s disclaimer is that you shouldn’t count on anything actually working or being accurate with the beta version. Really? Beta versions shouldn’t be trusted? Does that mean that Apple Maps is still in beta?

I wouldn’t recommend that you even try the beta of iOS unless you really don’t care about doing anything productive or have a ton of time to do testing for Apple. If you have already installed the iOS 8 beta and want to go backwards, there is a procedure to help. The instructions are only applicable to resuscitate your device back to the current version of iOS, which is 7.1.1. There are some caveats to the process so your mileage may vary. Good luck.
