Thorough Review of Android 6.0 Marshmallow

October 7, 2015

Ars Technica has posted an excellent and thorough review of the latest Android operating system, Marshmallow. Google says that version 6.0 Marshmallow has gone “back to basics” with a focus on “polish and quality.” One of the long-requested features includes selectable app permissions. I don’t know why this feature took so long to release. It’s existed in a BlackBerry for as long as I can remember. Now you should be able to control the permissions of your apps so they aren’t gathering and potentially transmitting personal information that they don’t need. As an example, why does a note taking app need access to your call history? It doesn’t and now you’ll be able to revoke that permission. Another great feature is the ability to format SD cards as Ext4, thereby allowing the device to use the expansion cards as if it were internal storage.

The review is rather extensive so be sure to check it out.
