Welcome 2017 and the Green Screen of Death

January 3, 2017

Say it isn't so. For years Windows users are used to severe errors throwing up a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) indicating offending processes and memory stack contents. A leaked preview build of Windows 10 (build 14997) emerged on the Internet showing that there will be a change in how severe errors are displayed. Obviously, there are other changes scheduled for the new build, but the green screen may only be for the test phase. It is suspected that the green color is a way for Microsoft to identify errors associated with the new version. We won't know if the actual release will revert back to the very familiar BSOD. Somehow GSOD just doesn't roll off your tongue.
