Windows 10 Recovery Drives Made Easy

November 15, 2016

Besides not having a current backup, the next worst thing is not being able to reload your operating system if the hard drive dies. PCWorld has a posting with instructions on how to create Windows 10 recovery drives. Besides being able to reinstall your operating system, a Windows recovery disk also includes several troubleshooting tools, which can be a lifesaver if your system won't boot. It's easy to create a recovery drive with the built-in tool for Windows 10.

  1. Get yourself an 8 or 16 GB USB flash drive.
  2. Get into Windows Control Panel and type create a recovery drive into the search bar.
  3. You'll need your administrator credentials to go further.
  4. Make sure you check the box labeled Back up system files to the recovery drive.
  5. Follow the remaining prompts.

Don't delay. Create your Windows 10 recovery drive, but please backup your system too.
