You Can Directly Create PDFs from the Office Ribbon

June 20, 2018

PDF is the de facto file format for consistent display across multiple systems. You can currently save a Word document as a PDF, but it takes several clicks through a menu structure. Adobe and Microsoft are extending their partnership and integrating Adobe's PDF services into Office 365. PCWorld has a post that states Adobe's Scan app may be a way to easily output PDF files from Office applications. If you have an Adobe and Office 365 subscription, generation of PDF files is a few clicks away. However, an Adobe subscription may be more money than people are willing to spend. Adobe Scan is apparently free and doesn't require a subscription.

Bottom line is that Adobe and Microsoft are working together to provide direct PDF generation from the Office Ribbon. It may cost money and it may not depending on what products you subscribe to. It looks like OneDrive and SharePoint users have the best options.
